There is an exemption to copyright law that provides instructors the ability to show movies in the classroom during face-to-face teaching activities without obtaining additional licensing. This is based on the assumption that the copy was legally obtained (such as accessing a video from one of our databases). The TEACH act extends permission to allow faculty to include streaming videos in their online courses.
